CONSULTATION FOR EMDR THERAPISTS
Consultation for Therapists Completing Basic Training (EMDR Levels 1 & 2):
I work as an EMDR Coach for Roy Kiessling (EMDR Consulting). In Roy's program, 10 hours of consultation is included in the fee you pay for basic training - so there is no additional fee to you. I usually offer consultation on Thursday mornings (10: 00 - 11:30 am), or Wednesday afternoons 1:00 - 2:30 pm) (Mountain Standard Time). I do this work by video conference (Zoom pro) - so you need a computer and high speed internet connection.

NOTE: I am licensed in Alberta and am only able to provide consultation to professionals while they are in Alberta. There are many coaches that work for Roy that see people from any province or territory.
Consultation for EMDR Trained Therapists
If you have completed basic training but wish improve your skills, I provide both group and individual consultations. Consults can be done "in person" or by video conferencing. Fee: sliding scale: $180 - $200 an hour (shared if there is more than one participant). If you work for a non-profit you get to use the lower fee. If you are in private practice then I charge the same fee that you would for an hour of client service. So if you charge $190 for an hour session with a client then I charge you the same fee for a one hour consult. Contact me by email or phone at 403-331-0352.
Note: You will have to scan and send me as copy of your license to practice and your EMDR Basic Training Certificate before I provide consultation. I also have a consultation agreement (which includes responsibilities and fees) which you will have to read and sign. Payment is made by e-transfer and receipts are sent by email.
Consultation towards EMDR Certification.
If you want to start working towards being an EMDR Certified therapist please contact me about one of my certification groups. Certification consists of 20 hours of consultation work - up to 10 of these hours can be group consultation. My consulting fees for certification are:
- Group work: $85 per session if there are 3 - 4 people in the group. $112 per session if there are 2 people in the group. Consultees pay for a set of 3 sessions at a time ($240 or $336 respectively).
- Individual consultations are billed on a sliding fee scale from $180 - $200 an hour. The lower fee can be accessed by those working in non-profit organizations or who are or who are students. If you are in private practice I charge the same fee that you do for a client session (i.e. if you charge $190 for a client session then I will charge you the same amount for a consultation session). Individual sessions are billed individually and paid the day of the consult.
Sessions generally occur on a monthly basis. It generally takes 1.5 years to complete certification. Know also that as part of the individual consultation hours you will need to provide videos of yourself doing EMDR with clients. I will not "signoff" on your certification unless I have seen your work with clients - know that this is a "Kirstenism" - in other words other consultants often do not require videos (but I do). NOTE:
- I do this work "in person" and by video conference (virtual consultation).
- I am able to work with therapists that are in Alberta at the time of the consultation (same reasons as above).
- I offer a webinar entitled "Dissociation 101: A Webinar for EMDR Therapists" you will need to attend this webinar before you start the certification process with me. I have 2 reasons for this requirement: (1) it is important that you see me doing EMDR and like the style, (2) it is important that you have a basic understanding of how to watch for dissociation and what to do if you have a dissociative client. To date I have never had a consultee finish their certification process without meeting at least one dissociative client.
CLINICAL SUPERVISION FOR MSW SOCIAL WORKERS.
RCSW (Registered Clinical Social Workers) Candidates.
Social workers with a master's degree (MSW) are eligible to apply to be a candidate for RCSW status. This requires supervision by an RCSW and a learning plan approved by the ACSW (Alberta College of Social Workers). I have supervised 4 RCSW candidates to date (some are still the the process of completing their RCSW program). I prefer to work with RSW's who are EMDR Trained and/or who are willing to include this as part of their learning plan.
EMDR Therapy for Your Own Concerns or Personal Growth
I believe that in order to "stay healthy" and reduce the impact of vicarious trauma, EMDR therapists do best when they are also doing their own personal work in the "client chair". I would be please to serve you in this way. See the "how I work" page for fees/details.
Know that I can not accept you as a client when/if you are actively receiving consultation or supervision with me (we will have to wait until the training period is completed and you have "graduated"). You can transition from being a consultee/trainee to a client - but not the other way around.
